Our agency Trout & Flies was born from a passion: fly fishing and the wild landscapes of the Aragonese Pyrenees. After more than two decades exploring its rivers and mountains, we decided to share with the world what we know best: the true essence of northern Spain.
Today, we organize exclusive fly fishing trips where every detail is carefully thought out for you. We take care of everything: charming accommodations, top-tier local gastronomy, exceptional wines, transfers and, of course, the best wild trout fishing scenarios.
From the crystal-clear rivers of the Pyrenees to other legendary enclaves in Spain—Castile and León, Galicia, Asturias, or the Basque Country—we design unique experiences that combine fishing, rest, culture, and pleasure. Our local guides know every corner, every current, and every season. FISHING SEASONS
1
March 1st - June 1st
Starting March 1, you will be able to fish for the zebra trout that inhabit northern Spain.
The rivers are still cold, and trout concentrate their activity during the central hours of the day. On the other hand, there are "catch and release" (no-kill) rivers where the trout behave very well and offer great fishing days.
This is a season where you can land large specimens of trout.
Fishing is usually done with nymphs, but the trout always provide the opportunity to fish for them with a dry fly.

June 1st - October 31st
June 1st marks the opening of high-mountain fishing in the Pyrenees.
This is surely one of the best places in the world in terms of fishing, the quality and quantity of the trout, fine gastronomy, and spectacular landscapes.
You will be able to fish all kinds of waters, but we especially recommend the upper stretches of the rivers, which are harder to access, wilder, and in their most natural state.
Fishing in ibones (high-mountain lakes at an altitude of 2,000 meters) is, for us, one of the most beautiful types of fishing you can experience in the summer. Furthermore, the area where our hotel is located is the finest zone in Spain and Europe for this kind of angling.
The fishing is usually done with dry flies or small-sized nymphs.

November 1st - March 1st
The trout season is closed, but there are still many stretches available for trout fishing, both for wild zebra trout and stocked trout. These months of November and December are surely times of peak activity for the fish, including large specimens.
These months are also really good for trout fishing in reservoirs, where big trout show great activity and make for incredible days of fishing.
